Oui Oui Wednesday: La Musique de Yann Tiersen

Ah oui! C’est le mantin du mercredi et je suis tres contente (Ah yes! It’s Wednesday morning and I am so happy).

At least I think I wrote that write (still waking up). It’s not evern 7:30 am and I need to finish my coffee (and this blog post), take a shower, get dressed, out the door, write an essay in French on my lunch break (if I can even take a lunch break), work ’til 7pm and then arrive at my weekly Wednesday French class by 7:30pm. Oooo, maybe I should have tried to write all of that in French, but I’ll spare you.

What I’m most happy about though (more so than my crazy day ahead) is that I have tickets to see French composer and musician Yann Tiersen perform this Saturday night at Cal State LA. Ah oui!

Yann Tiersen scored the film “Le Fabuleux destin d’Amelie Poulain” by director Jena-Pierre Jeunet. I saw that film by myself summer of 2001 in Paris when I didn’t speak or understand a word of French, then came home to buy the sheet music to the film and learn all the songs on piano. Such pretty music. Plus, I’ve watched a ton of YouTube videos of Yann Tiersen performing and the dude rips on piano, accordion, violin and more.

Ahhh, the French. So good at cheese, wine, film and music. Four of my favorite things!
