HUSTLE FILE #19: Deana Mattos Diefenbach

deana mattos diefenbach_hustle upNAME: Deana Mattos Diefenbach

OCCUPATION: If by occupation you mean what occupies most of my time, I would have to say, “the best mom” (ha! since I am writing this I can say that…) of three beautiful, smart, funny children. Also, cooking, cleaning and laundry. However, when my time is not occupied by these things, my occupation would be “artist” – painter primarily, but since I can’t stop there, also jewelry artist and silk artist. Also, since I’ve yet to hit the big time, I am a publicist, promoter, advertiser, printer, writer, marketer, packager and rep for all things me.

LOCATION:  Home studio in the beautiful rural state of Montana, USA

WHAT’S YOUR HUSTLE: What I really want out of this art thing is to find my niche, to find a few places to carry my art and sell enough of it that my only hustle will be to paint more to keep up with the demand. Then, I will no longer be all those things mentioned above, but just the artist.

WHAT DOES YOUR HUSTLE MEAN TO YOU:  It means so much more than expression. Since I do not work out of the home, it means a piece of independence, something that is all mine, an outlet, sanity, insanity, joy, pain, grief, self-awareness, self-discovery and gratification.

IF YOU COULD HAVE ONLY THREE TOOLS FOR YOUR HUSTLE, WHAT WOULD THEY BE: This is a killer since simplicity is not my strong suit. I will have to be broad with my answers – an endless easel of art supplies, an endless supply of inspiration and an endless supply of customers… what more can an artist girl want.
